Washington Post CEO resigns after mass layoffs

Former Washington Post editor-in-chief Marty Baron sharply assessed what was happening, calling the day of layoffs "one of the darkest in the history of one of the world's greatest news organizations."

According to The New York Times, Lewis was appointed CEO in early 2024 by Jeff Bezos, the owner of the publication, with the task of stopping years of financial losses and transforming the business. Jeff D'Onofrio, the newspaper's former chief financial officer, has become the new CEO of the Washington Post.
