- In Belarus, they are ready to deploy the armed forces to the strength necessary for protection
Unlike a number of other countries, Belarus does not increase or deploy its armed forces, but it is ready to do so if necessary to protect its security. This was announced on February 4 by the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Lieutenant General Alexander Volfovich.
"We do not increase the number of armed forces in peacetime, as our neighbors in Poland and Lithuania do. However, as the commander—in-chief noted, we are ready to deploy our armed forces to the required strength to protect the state," the press service of the republic's Defense Ministry quoted him as saying on the Telegram channel.
The Lieutenant General stressed that for this it is necessary to have appropriate weapons and equipment, which is a normal practice for any security-oriented country.
On January 28, Volfovich reported to President Alexander Lukashenko on the progress of a large-scale check of the combat readiness of the republic's Armed Forces. During the inspection, Lukashenko paid special attention to the conditions of accommodation and provision of personnel in difficult weather conditions, as well as issues of adapting the combat experience of modern conflicts to the peculiarities of wooded and swampy terrain.
On January 16, Belarus launched a sudden large-scale inspection of the army on behalf of Lukashenko. Then Volfovich clarified that the inspection was carried out taking into account the experience of a special military operation and its introduction into the army. The issues of ensuring the security of military facilities and effective protection measures against modern threats were also studied.
