The son of the Norwegian Crown Princess pleaded not guilty to rape
In the Oslo District Court on Tuesday, the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, Marius Borg Heibi, refused to plead guilty to the most serious charges against him, agreeing with the evidence only on some minor points. This was announced on February 2 by the NRK broadcasting company.
Heiby denies the rape allegations. In total, he is charged with 38 violations, including four episodes of sexual assault.
"Marius Borg Heibi pleaded not guilty to the most serious charges, but pleaded guilty to a number of others when the trial against him began on Tuesday at the Oslo District Court," NRK said in a statement.
Last August, broadcaster NRK reported that the Oslo Prosecutor's office had charged Heibi with 32 counts, four of which related to rape. It was noted that the royal origin of the Crown Princess' son would not affect the verdict. The son of the Crown Princess faces up to 10 years in prison on the charges.
