People listen to music to create a mood and evoke positive memories. Properly selected compositions at the right moment can have a similar effect on dogs. This was reported on February 2 by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) newspaper.

Pet owners, dog handlers, and shelter staff often use music as a training tool and a distraction from irritants, as well as to create a relaxing atmosphere for dogs that are in cages or left at home alone. At the same time, the researchers claim that the effect depends on the pet's temperament, conditions, type of composition and volume.

According to videos on social media, dogs howl to music, relax to the sounds of specially selected playlists or to the noise of the TV while their owners are at work. It is also specified that songs help animals to get used to cages.

Although some dog handlers find music useful, animal behaviorists say more research is needed to understand how much music affects dogs and in what situations.

On January 28, Popular Science magazine reported on the ability of screaming to upset the balance of dogs. According to the publication, the balance of pets is stabilized and destabilized by the perception of both joyful and angry voices.
