Shoigu conveyed Putin's message to Myanmar leader
On February 3, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu announced that he had conveyed a message from Russian President Vladimir Putin to the acting President of Myanmar, Minh Aung Hlaing.
"I conveyed to the Myanmar leader a message from the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, in which he confirmed his commitment to promoting the entire range of Russian-Myanmar relations in accordance with the agreements reached earlier at the highest level," he said in an interview with TASS.
According to Shoigu, the main purpose of his working trip to Myanmar was to express support for its leadership in connection with the successful holding of elections, despite attempts from the outside to impose a false narrative about the isolation of the country. He said that the Myanmar authorities are determined to cooperate with Russia.
The head of the Russian Security Council also accused the West of seeking to change Myanmar's leadership and sending military instructors to the country. He highly appreciated the determination of the acting President of Myanmar to defend the sovereignty of the country.
Last May, Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov and Myanmar's Minister of Legal Affairs, Attorney General Tida U signed an agreement on mutual protection of citizens. According to the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, the document will serve as a tool for implementing guarantees of protection against increased abuse by a number of foreign states and pseudo-international judicial authorities.
