In the US state of North Carolina, more than 1,000 road accidents occurred over the weekend due to snowfall. This was reported on February 1 by CNN with reference to Governor Josh Stein.

"Record snowfall in North Carolina has caused more than 1,000 traffic accidents," the article says.

It is specified that the snowfall also caused two deaths, as well as a giant traffic jam that hit more than 100 cars. In addition, more than 10,000 power outages were recorded throughout the state due to bad weather.

The governor warned that the roads remain dangerous and are likely to be in poor condition for several more days.

The California Highway Patrol reported on February 1 that 59 cars collided on Highway 99. It was noted that there are several victims who received minor and moderate injuries. According to the local ABC TV channel, ten people were hospitalized.

Prior to this, 100 cars collided on the I–196 highway near Hudsonville, Michigan, on January 19 due to heavy snowfall. It is noted that there are no fatalities. The number of victims varies from 9 to 12, there is no exact data.
