Currently, the risk of global conflict is quite high. This was announced on February 2 by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council.

"Unfortunately, a global conflict is not excluded. I believe that the danger is very great, and it is not decreasing," he said in an interview with TASS.

Medvedev noted that although contacts with the United States have been resumed and the parties are consulting on a number of issues, including the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, the overall situation in the world remains very dangerous.

According to him, events can develop according to an uncontrolled scenario, when one strike will trigger a response, which can eventually lead to a global and devastating conflict for all.

On December 19, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during the "Results of the Year" in the direct line format, said that the statements of the head of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) Mark Rutte about an alleged possible war with the Russian Federation were nonsense. Putin stressed that the National Security Strategy of the United States, a key player in NATO, does not indicate that Washington considers Russia an enemy.
