Sauna owners in Prokopyevsk grossly violated fire safety requirements
The owners of a sauna in Prokopyevsk, Kemerovo region, where five teenagers died in a fire, grossly violated fire safety requirements. Their location is being established, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region reported.
"According to investigators, in the period leading up to the tragedy, an individual entrepreneur and his brother organized the provision of bath and sauna services in a rented room on Kubanskaya Street in Prokopyevsk. At the same time, they grossly violated fire safety requirements: the facility was not equipped with the necessary fire extinguishing equipment and accessible evacuation exits, which posed a real threat to the life and health of visitors. The staff, including the accused, was employed without proper official registration," the report says.
It is noted that the teenagers were unable to safely evacuate due to the rapid spread of fire, they were poisoned by carbon monoxide. According to the agency, the teenagers were indoors without adults.
