Deputies of the State Duma (State Duma) will consider a bill granting specialized private security organizations (PSOs) the right to use small arms to protect critical infrastructure facilities. This was announced on January 31 by Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the House of Parliament.

According to him, the bill has already been sent to the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, where it will be considered first.

"In particular, we are talking about enterprises of the fuel and energy complex. The structures responsible for ensuring their safety should have more opportunities," Volodin said, quoted on the website of the State Duma press service.

It is clarified that the document provides for the possibility of specialized private military companies to receive military small arms in the territorial bodies of the Russian Guard. Unlike current regulations that only allow the use of service weapons, this bill will give organizations more authority to ensure the safety of facilities.

The head of the Duma committee, Nikolai Shulginov, announced on January 21 that the State Duma Committee on Energy had proposed allowing the protection of energy facilities to use military firearms to protect against drone attacks. He noted that the safety of energy facilities in modern conditions remains one of the key issues for the stable operation of the entire fuel and energy complex.
