A fire in a sauna in Prokopyevsk claimed the lives of five teenagers. What is known

A fire in a private sauna in the city of Prokopyevsk in the Kemerovo region killed five people, presumably teenagers aged 16-17 years. The fire area was 70 sq. m. One girl survived, she managed to get out of the building. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

Details of the incident

The fire occurred on Kubanskaya Street. According to preliminary data, there were six people in the sauna. One girl, Sofya F., managed to get out.

The sauna administrator admitted that there might be people inside. 26 specialists and five pieces of equipment are working on site. The Prokopyevsk Prosecutor's office organized an inspection, as this is not the first case of fire in this sauna — a similar incident occurred on March 4, 2025.

The reaction of law enforcement officers

The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in the Kemerovo region has opened a criminal case into the tragedy. The case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation concerning the provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life or health of consumers.

At the moment, investigators and criminologists are continuing to work at the scene, and eyewitnesses are being questioned. In the near future, forensic medical and fire-technical examinations will be appointed to determine the causes of the fire and death of the victims.
