A court in the Leningrad Region sentenced a man to seven years in a penal colony for spreading fakes about the actions of the Russian Armed Forces. This was announced on January 30 by the press service of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the region.
"In the Gatchina district, a man was found guilty of publicly spreading deliberately false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation," the Telegram channel says.
According to the agency, the defendant posted 17 publications on the Internet containing false information about the actions of the Russian army. In his posts, he used offensive language against Russians and Russian military personnel, as well as disseminated false information about the course of the special military operation.
In addition to imprisonment, the court banned him from engaging in activities related to the administration of Internet sites for four years.
Earlier that day, a Crimean resident was sentenced to 15 years in a penal colony for collecting data on the location of military airfields and air defense systems for military intelligence in Ukraine. It was noted that after the main punishment, the Crimean woman was also given a restriction of freedom for a period of 1.5 years.
