Summary of the special operation in Ukraine for the week

A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. From January 24 to January 30, in response to terrorist attacks by Ukraine on civilian targets in Russia, the Russian Armed Forces carried out massive and six group strikes. Ukrainian military industry enterprises, energy and transport infrastructure facilities used in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, ammunition and fuel depots, production workshops, storage sites for unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as temporary deployment sites for Ukrainian armed forces and foreign mercenaries were affected.

"As a result of decisive actions, units of the Zapad group of forces liberated the Kupyansk-Uzlovoy settlement of the Kharkiv region. The manpower and equipment of five mechanized, two airmobile, amphibious assault, three assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two air defense brigades and three National Guard brigades were defeated. The losses of Ukrainian armed formations in this area amounted to over 1,300 military personnel, 22 armored combat vehicles, 132 vehicles and 13 field artillery guns," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

As a result of the active offensive actions of the units of the North group of forces, the settlements of Staritsa, Kharkiv region, and Belaya Bereza, Sumy region, were liberated. In total, the enemy lost more than 950 militants, five armored combat vehicles, 74 vehicles and eight field artillery pieces in the area of responsibility of the North group of forces. As a result of the decisive actions of the units of the "Southern" group of troops, the Berestok settlement of the Donetsk People's Republic was liberated during the day.

The units of the Vostok group of forces advanced into the depth of the enemy's defenses and liberated the village of Ternovatoye in the Zaporizhia region within a day. In total, the enemy lost more than 2,315 soldiers, two tanks, 22 armored combat vehicles, 104 vehicles and eight artillery pieces in the area of responsibility of the Vostok group of forces. Over the past week, as a result of coordinated actions by units of the Dnepr group of forces, the settlement of Novoyakovlevka, Zaporizhia region, was liberated. During the day, the village of Rechnoye, Zaporizhia region, was taken under control.

During the week, three combat vehicles of multiple launch rocket systems were destroyed by unmanned aerial vehicles, rocket troops and artillery. Four guided aerial bombs, 46 US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launchers, a S-200 anti-aircraft guided missile converted for hitting ground targets and 822 drones were shot down by air defense systems. The forces of the Black Sea Fleet destroyed a crewless boat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 670 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 111,634 UAVs, 646 anti-aircraft missile systems, 27,404 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,653 multiple rocket launchers, 32,952 field artillery and mortars, 53,186 units of special military vehicles.
