- NI reported on the protection of Russia by the Tobol electronic warfare system from NATO satellites
The Russian Tobol electronic warfare system actively protects the Kaliningrad Region from such NATO satellite systems as GPS, Galileo and Starlink. This was announced on January 29 by Brandon Weichert, a columnist for The National Interest (NI) magazine.
In his opinion, Tobol could allegedly be responsible for GPS signal interference observed in the Baltic States and the Gulf of Finland. The system tracks NATO satellites and communications equipment, the journalist pointed out.
Weichert also suggests that Tobol is allegedly part of the so—called "Great Baltic Jammer" - a network of stations that suppress satellite signals in Northern Europe.
The Associated Press reported on December 22 last year that the intelligence services of the two NATO countries reported that Russia was allegedly developing a new anti-satellite weapon capable of disabling the Starlink satellite constellation. It was noted that we are talking about creating a so-called "zone weapon" capable of filling orbits with hundreds of thousands of high-density metal balls.
