- Zhurova ruled out the possibility of earning half-naked photos from athletes of the Russian Federation
Russian athletes do not use nude photography to earn money to prepare for competitions, unlike some foreign athletes. This was announced on January 30 by Olympic speed skating champion Svetlana Zhurova.
"There is no such thing in our sports management system, no one will take pictures with us. Firstly, because athletes won't get paid for "nudes," to be honest. We don't do this <...>. We had one nude photo shoot, we didn't shoot naked, but we showed the muscles of skaters and skiers, who are usually seen in overalls," Zhurova told TASS.
Zhurova noted that in Russia such a practice would not bring income, and the athlete could face public condemnation. She stressed that such a step abroad is often a necessary measure in critical circumstances. According to her, the reasons are either a trip to the Olympics or a difficult family situation.
The Bild newspaper reported on January 27 that Lisa Bukwitz, Olympic bobsleigh champion from Germany, created an account on the OnlyFans platform in order to raise funds to participate in the 2026 Olympic Games in Italy. At the same time, as noted, the athlete combines intensive bobsleigh training with military service in the Bundeswehr.
