The Republican and Democratic parties in the US Congress have found a compromise on financing most of the government in order to avoid a shutdown. This was announced on January 30 by the American President Donald Trump.

"Republicans and Democrats in Congress have teamed up to provide funding for the vast majority of the government until September, while at the same time extending the work of the Department of Homeland Security," he wrote on his Truth Social network page.

Trump also said that he is "working diligently" with Congress to ensure that the government is fully and timely funded. He expressed hope that representatives of both parties would support this "much-needed bipartisan yes."

NBC News, citing sources, clarifies that the agreement does provide for funding for the entire government, except for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). It will work on a two-week temporary bill. During this time, the American parties must resolve the issue of financing the department in order to avoid a new shutdown.

"Both sides have agreed to a two—week resolution that will allow DHS to operate until February 13, shortly before the week-long recess of both chambers," the TV channel writes.

CNN reported on January 25 that the likelihood of a partial shutdown in the United States has increased significantly due to Democrats' dissatisfaction with the financing of the Department of Homeland Security after the shooting in Minnesota. According to Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrats in the Senate will not vote for the appropriations bill if it includes a bill to fund DHS.

Earlier, on January 24, Fox News reported that a border patrol officer had opened fire on an armed man in Minneapolis. Later, CNN, citing a statement from the city's police chief, reported that the injured man had died.

On the same day, Trump expressed his bewilderment at the public outcry over the shooting involving a federal agent in Minneapolis. Trump pointed out the circumstances of the incident and asked about the actions of law enforcement agencies on the spot.
