The decision of the European Union (EU) leadership to include Russia in the money laundering blacklist came into force on January 29. This was reported by the press service of the EU Council.

"The decision to blacklist Russia for money laundering came into force on January 29," the official EU resources on the website say.

It is indicated that there were no objections to this decision from within the EU.

On January 19, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the EU's policy anecdotal. She cited a media report in which an anonymous official pointed out that representatives of the association's institutions joke too little in their statements and this harms the communication of their messages to the public.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on January 25 that Russia would never discuss any issues with the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas. Peskov also criticized the leadership of the European Union, saying that there are no political visionaries in it, but only illiterate and incompetent functionaries who are unable to look to the future.
