Lavrov pointed to a violation of diplomatic ethics by Zelensky and the EU
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and his "teachers" from the European Union (EU) have a habit of violating the laws of diplomatic ethics. This was announced on January 29 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in an interview with Turkish media.
Lavrov stressed that Russia adheres to the principle of non-disclosure of the contents of diplomatic negotiations. According to him, the Russian side has not seen the agreement on security guarantees between the United States and Ukraine and therefore refrains from commenting.
"We have not seen the agreement with the United States, which Zelensky and his Foreign Minister [Andriy] are talking about on every corner now. Sibiga and a number of other Ukrainian figures. Although, I repeat, in violation of all the laws of diplomatic ethics, they follow their "teachers" like French President [Emanuel]. Macron and others who want to constantly "leak" some information without bearing any responsibility for it," Lavrov said.
The Foreign minister expressed surprise at Zelensky's statements about the document's readiness and refusal to cede territory. According to Lavrov, the behavior of the head of the Kiev regime creates the feeling that the winner of the whole of Europe is speaking.
The minister also criticized the position of Europe, which, according to him, failed to respect the policies of US President Donald Trump. He also recalled that in Davos Zelensky reproached the EU for its soft attitude towards the American leader and called for more active support for the conflict.
On January 28, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the United States and its allies in Europe had reached a general agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine. He noted that the issue of the deployment of troops primarily concerns the troops of France and Great Britain.
Earlier that day, the Reuters news agency reported that the United States was offering Ukraine to sign a peace agreement with Russia in exchange for security guarantees for the country. At the same time, the source of the publication disputes the information of the Financial Times, according to which Washington makes the provision of guarantees dependent on the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Donbass.
Later, political analyst Alexander Asafov said that the issue of guarantees requires detailed study, since security guarantees are necessary not only for Ukraine, but also for Russia, and this factor should be taken into account in any agreements. In addition, Kiev's previously published assumptions about guarantees look "quite fantastic."
