Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov has been included in the starting line-up of French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for the final match of the eighth round of the main stage of the UEFA Champions League against English Newcastle. For the 26-year-old, this is the first time he has been included in the PSG squad since his injury.

This season Safonov played four matches for FC, in two of which he did not allow a single goal in his own goal.

The match against Newcastle will take place on Wednesday in Paris, starting at 23:00 Moscow time. PSG are in sixth place in the group with 13 points, while Newcastle are one place lower with the same number of points.

The PSG press service also reported on December 19 that the goalkeeper suffered a broken arm during this match. Later, the newspaper L'Equipe reported that Safonov could recover for up to 5-6 weeks.
