On January 28, US President Donald Trump criticized statements by Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who said that the city was not going to comply with federal immigration laws.

Surprisingly, Mayor Jacob Frey just stated that "Minneapolis does not and will not enforce federal immigration laws." And this is after we had a very good conversation with him," he wrote on his Truth Social network.

The US president stressed that such statements violate the country's legislation, and called on Frey's entourage to explain this to him. In addition, Trump called Minneapolis' refusal to comply with federal immigration laws a serious violation and warned the mayor against "playing with fire."

The Wall Street Journal reported on January 25 that the US administration is reviewing all the circumstances of the shooting in Minneapolis, and Trump made it clear that the presence of federal agents in Minneapolis may be temporary.

An employee of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Service opened fire on an armed man in Minneapolis on January 24, as a result of which the injured man died. Meanwhile, mass strikes with almost 100 thousand participants against the ICE service took place in Minnesota.

Trump, in turn, expressed bewilderment at the public outcry over the shooting involving a federal agent in Minneapolis. He pointed out the circumstances of the incident and asked about the actions of law enforcement agencies on the spot.

Back in early January, a 37-year-old American woman was shot dead in Minneapolis during an operation involving ICE agents. According to the Ministry of Internal Security, she allegedly tried to use a car to run over employees and escape.
