On January 28, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that one of the Kazakh banks had helped to "drive away" more than 7 trillion tenge (almost $14 billion) from the neighboring country to other states.

"From the point of view of the law, economics, even politics, this, in my opinion, is an outrageous fact. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of such facts regarding fraudulent financial schemes," Tokayev stressed, as quoted by the government's press service on its website.

The president also noted that Kazakhstan is one of the leaders in illegal capital withdrawal through crypto operations. More than 130 illegal crypto exchanges with a turnover of over 62 billion tenge (about $124 million) have already been eliminated in the country.
