The city of Kupyansk-Uzlovoy has been liberated from units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), and an operation is currently underway in the settlement to check and clean up urban neighborhoods. This was announced on January 27 by Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, during an inspection of the Zapad group of forces.

According to Gerasimov, during the operation, the troops continue to ensure the security and inspection of all areas of the city. At the same time, fighting continues in neighboring towns such as Kovsharovka and Glushkovka.

"Kupyansk-Uzlovoy has been liberated, and the city blocks in this city are being checked and cleaned," Gerasimov said.

On the same day, Gerasimov said that the Russian military was advancing in almost all directions in the area of the special military operation. It was noted that in two weeks of January, the Russian Armed Forces liberated eight settlements. In addition, more than 300 square kilometers have passed under the control of the Russian Army.
