A private house in Balashikha, where people died in a fire, was not officially registered as a hotel. This was announced on January 27 by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

"According to official information, this is a three-storey private apartment building with two owners. According to fire safety standards, no monitoring and preventive measures are being carried out in relation to this facility," the Ministry of Emergency Situations emphasized in the Telegram channel.

According to the latest data, four people died as a result of the fire. Firefighters arrived and rescued six people, including two children, and 11 more people left the building on their own.

The fire in the Zvorykino quarter in Balashikha became known earlier that day. As a result, four people were killed, and another 15-year-old was hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning. The fire occurred in the early morning at about 04:40 Moscow time. The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has opened a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Causing death by negligence").

Later, a source from Izvestia reported that Cuban citizens had died in the fire at the hostel.
