Russian juniors will be allowed to compete in pentathlon with a flag and an anthem
The International Union of Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) has decided to allow Russian juniors to participate in competitions under its auspices in the age groups U15, U17 and U19 with national symbols. This was announced on January 27 by the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Mikhail Degtyarev.
"The Executive Committee of the International Union of Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) has decided to allow Russian juniors in the age groups U15, U17 and U19 to compete under the auspices of the organization without any restrictions - in national uniforms, under the national flag and with the anthem," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Degtyarev noted that this decision is the result of consistent work to protect the interests of Russian athletes and confirms the return of the sports dialogue to a constructive course.
Degtyarev announced on January 26 that several major international sports federations would return the flag to Russian juniors in the next 2-3 weeks. According to him, such agreements were reached following the results of the event.
