Beglov thanked Putin for supporting the blockade initiatives

Alexander Beglov, the Governor of St. Petersburg, conveyed to Russian President Vladimir Putin the words of appreciation from veterans for their support of initiatives to preserve the memory of the siege of Leningrad. He announced this on January 26 at a working meeting held on the eve of the 82nd anniversary of the complete liberation of the city from the Nazi blockade.

"I would like to convey to you the words of gratitude from our veterans, the besiegers, because a lot has been done in accordance with your instructions," Beglov said.
