Slovakia intends to challenge in court the ban on gas imports to the EU from Russia
Bratislava intends to appeal to the Court of Justice of the European Union (EU) with a demand to lift the ban on Russian gas imports to the EU from 2027. This was announced on January 26 by Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar.
"We cannot make decisions that do not reflect the real capabilities of individual countries. Therefore, we will appeal to the EU Court of Justice and initiate the procedure for repealing the REPower EU regulation," the press service of the Slovak Foreign Ministry quoted Blanar as saying.
The Slovak Foreign Ministry also clarified that the representative of Bratislava voted against approving the initiative to ban the import of Russian gas.
