The mission of the UNESCO World Heritage Center visited St. Petersburg at the invitation of the Russian side. This was announced on January 26 by the Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments of the city (KGIOP).

"During the mission's visit, the city government openly informs the center's experts on issues related to the preservation of the site (historic St. Petersburg)," the message says.

In particular, the planning and implementation of major urban development projects are being discussed, including multifunctional high-rise complexes in Lakhta, transport infrastructure facilities, the construction of the bell tower of Smolny Cathedral, the restoration of the Stable Department and other initiatives.

In addition, the mission is provided with information on measures to preserve the World Heritage Site in the Leningrad Region.
