Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder is seeking to change the European approach to Russia in a way that has already led to alleged mistakes. This was announced on January 26 by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.

The statement came after Schroeder's article was published in the Berliner Zeitung newspaper, in which the ex-chancellor called for the resumption of energy cooperation with Russia and called for an end to its "demonization."

"The recent reflections of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder in the Berliner Zeitung newspaper are a creeping attempt to divide Europe and lead us away from the current course of pressure on Russia, returning to the old path, which has already led to disastrous consequences," the Estonian ERR minister said.
