- The first power transmission pole was installed in the Arctic after an accident on the electric grid
In the Murmansk region, power engineers installed the first power transmission line pole during the elimination of a major accident that left parts of Murmansk and Severomorsk without electricity. This was reported on January 26 by Rosseti North-West.
"The first support was installed. We continue to work around the clock on power lines in the Murmansk region. A support of 82 elements was assembled on the spot," the company's Telegram channel says.
It is noted that work in tundra conditions is technically difficult. It was impossible to deliver whole supports, so the structures were transported piece by piece on all-terrain vehicles, and heavy parts were dragged onto the hills using an excavator and manually. Due to the extreme conditions, special equipment broke down on the sites.
Later, a second structure was installed.
A day earlier, it was reported that residents of the city who were left without electricity began to distribute food packages at support points. Public transport will operate free of charge in Murmansk and Severomorsk until the resumption of electricity supply. Earlier in the day, Chibis reported that an emergency regime was being introduced in the region due to the protracted nature of the power system accident.
On January 24, street help points began to open in Murmansk, where you can charge electronic devices and get groceries. It was noted that interactive maps had been prepared for Murmansk residents, on which the addresses of heating points, field kitchens and places for charging phones were marked.
