- The Ministry of Internal Affairs warned about a new fraud scheme under the guise of the Gosuslugi portal
Fraud cases have become more frequent in Russia, in which attackers send fake messages on behalf of the Gosuslugi portal using a similar logo and personal messages. This was announced on January 25 in the Department for combating the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
"Cases of fake mailings allegedly from "State Services" have become more frequent on the Web. Scammers use similar logos, personal appeal and even advise not to tell anyone the codes from SMS. But this is only part of the deception scenario," the department's Telegram channel says.
The ministry recalled that official notifications from the Gosuslugi portal are sent exclusively from one email address — no-reply@gosuslugi.ru However, responses to such emails are not provided.
Citizens were also urged not to follow suspicious links and not to call the numbers listed in such mailings. To receive help and advice, you should use only the official website or the Gosuslugi mobile application.
On the same day, the Department for combating the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region reported that fraudsters had begun using a new deception scheme, offering users to install an allegedly "working" or "updated" version of the WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist in Russia).
