Lithuania has suspended entry to one of the checkpoints on the border with Belarus
Lithuania has suspended the entry of trucks to the Myadininkai checkpoint on the border with Belarus. This was announced on January 24 by the State Border Committee of Belarus.
"On the afternoon of January 24, the Lithuanian side suspended the entry of trucks to the Myadininkai checkpoint (from the Belarusian side — Kamenny Log)," the department's Telegram channel says.
It is specified that the restriction is related to technical failures in the operation of the software of customs information systems. According to preliminary information, the resumption of traffic is expected no earlier than 20:00 (coincides with Moscow time). The border committee added that the registration of passenger vehicles and buses continues as usual.
Earlier, on January 21, Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov said that the ministry would consider the need to open a "window of opportunity" for cooperation with Lithuania. According to him, the Lithuanian government "does not think and is not going to think about its people."
Prior to that, in December last year, Ryzhenkov accused Lithuania of provocation on the Belarusian border. He noted that information has emerged that the EU is ready to allocate more than €6 billion to Lithuania, but this money will not be used to develop infrastructure or social projects, but to create barriers and weapons. However, according to the Foreign Minister, the Lithuanian military does not know how to use these funds effectively.
