The new Thai government will consider the country's participation in the "Peace Council" of US President Donald Trump after the election. This was reported on January 24 by the Bangkok Post newspaper, citing Thai Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anuthin Chanvirakun.

"The interim government has stated that it cannot oblige Thailand to participate in the U.S.—led peace initiative, and has left this decision entirely to the discretion of the next administration," the publication's official social media page says. Twitter).

Earlier, on January 21, political analyst Vladimir Olenchenko said that Western leaders refused to participate in Trump's "Peace Council" because they did not want to formalize Washington's dominance. According to him, it is assumed that the American leader himself will be the chairman of the "Peace Council", and this is a legal formalization of US dominance, which was not the case before.

It was noted that Azerbaijan, Argentina, Bahrain, Belarus, Hungary, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Israel, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Egypt had previously agreed to the initiative to join the council. The Financial Times newspaper, in turn, reported that most of the EU countries rejected the invitation of the US president to join the "Peace Council". According to the publication, Europe fears that the "Peace Council" will be able to sideline the UN as a platform for resolving global conflicts in the future.
