On January 23, deputy Dmitry Svishchev proposed providing paid leave to parents of children who won a gold medal or won the All-Russian Olympiad.

"The state awards medals to children and encourages teachers, but who will reward parents? Years without days off, nights over textbooks instead of rest, endless support and faith in your child — this is the real price of a gold medal. This is titanic parental work, and it must be supported," he told TASS.
