On January 22, American leader Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox Business that the United States had never needed NATO.

"I've always said: will they (NATO allies. — Ed.) there, if we ever need them? This is the main criterion. And I'm not sure about that. I know we've been there and will be there, but will they be there? Let's hope that this never happens. We've never needed them," Trump said.

The head of the White House stressed that the United States had never actually asked for anything from the North Atlantic Alliance.

On January 21, Trump said that the United States is ready to fully support NATO countries, but it is not a fact that the alliance will reciprocate if the United States itself is attacked.

Prior to that, on January 20, the American leader posted a message on his Truth Social network stating that the real enemies of the United States are the United Nations and NATO, not Russia and China. It is clarified that Trump took a screenshot of the publication of the user Bobby D, in which he wondered: "When will we realize that the enemy is among us?"
