A criminal case has been opened in Moscow against a Ukrainian citizen on charges of publicly calling for terrorist activities and propaganda of terrorism. This was reported on January 22 in the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in the Telegram channel.

According to the investigation, on January 31, 2025, while in the Moscow region, the accused posted publications in one of the messengers calling for terrorist activities in Russia, as well as propaganda of terrorism.

It is noted that the defendant is charged under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls for terrorist activities, propaganda of terrorism committed using the Internet information and telecommunications network"). During the interrogation, the defendant fully admitted his guilt.

As part of the investigation, a search was conducted at the place of residence of the accused, equipment and other materials relevant to the case were seized. The investigation intends to apply to the Nagatinsky District Court of the capital with a request for the application of a preventive measure in the form of detention.

In December last year, it was reported that a resident of Arkhangelsk was suspected of publicly justifying and propagandizing terrorism. It turned out that in April of the same year, the man supported terrorism in public messenger chats, and also posted a test comment supporting and justifying terrorist activities.
