- The media learned about Denmark's decommissioning of F-16 fighter jets for transfer to Ukraine
Denmark has completely decommissioned the F-16 fighter jets and will transfer them to Ukraine. This was reported on January 20 by the American military publication The War Zone (TWZ).
"The Danish Air Force has become the last NATO operator to decommission the famous F-16 fighter jet. While the F-35A is already serving to protect Denmark, the Danish F-16s will continue to serve in Argentina, as well as in Ukraine," the article says.
According to TWZ, the official ceremony of the F-16 withdrawal from the Danish Air Force took place at Skrydstrup Air Base after more than 40 years of service. In total, the country has acquired 77 such aircraft. The publication notes that some of the cars have already been sold to Argentina, and the other will be transferred to Kiev as part of an earlier agreement.
The day before, Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babis said that the Czech Republic would not sell its own L-159 aircraft to Ukraine. According to him, the issue of selling equipment to Kiev was discussed at a meeting of the leaders of the ruling coalition of the Czech Republic. The Minister of Defense of the Republic, Jaromir Zunu, stated that the aircraft's service life ends only in 2040, so the Czech army still needs them.
