The Central Bank will issue a commemorative silver coin dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Saltykov-Shchedrin

On January 20, the Bank of Russia will issue a commemorative silver coin of the Outstanding Personalities of Russia series, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of writer Mikhail Saltykov-Shchedrin. This was announced on January 19 by the press service of the regulator.

"On January 20, 2026, the Bank of Russia will issue a commemorative silver coin with a face value of 2 rubles "Writer M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin, for the 200th anniversary of his birth" of the Outstanding Personalities of Russia series (catalog number 5110-0192)," the Bank of Russia website says.

The coin is made of 925 sterling silver, the weight of the pure precious metal is 15.55 g, the diameter is 33 mm. It has a round shape with a protruding edge around the circumference of the front and back sides and is made as a "proof".
