President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has received an official invitation from US President Donald Trump to join the "Peace Council" to resolve the situation in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on January 19 by the press secretary of the head of the republic, Sherzod Asadov.

"President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has received an official invitation from President of the United States of America Donald Trump to join the international initiative to consolidate peace in the Middle East and resolve conflicts," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

It clarifies that the purpose of this proposal is to create a "Peace Council" — a new international structure that should unite States willing to take responsibility for ensuring long-term peace and stability.

According to Asadov, Uzbekistan was invited to join the organization as a founding state. The spokesman also added that Mirziyoyev had sent a reply letter to Trump expressing the country's willingness to join the council.

Earlier, on January 14, the Axios portal reported that the United States had sent invitations to a number of states to join the "Peace Council" on the Gaza Strip. It was specified that the first meeting within the council could take place as early as next week. Trump is expected to chair the meeting. On January 15, the American leader announced that the formation of the "Peace Council" had been completed. He also added that, in his opinion, this is the greatest and most prestigious council that has ever been created.

Later, on January 17, Axios correspondent Barak Ravid, citing the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, reported that the composition of the Gaza Strip governance council had not been agreed with Israel and contradicted state policy. The office added that Netanyahu instructed Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar to contact US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on this issue.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin had also received an invitation from the United States to join the "Peace Council" for the settlement of the Gaza Strip. He also added that the Russian side is currently studying this proposal in detail and hopes to have contacts with the United States to clarify all the details.
