In Minnesota, USA, 18-year-old kindergarten nanny Thea Laudemia Russell was arrested and charged with murdering an 11-month-old child to attract attention. This was reported by The Mirror newspaper.

The incident occurred on September 22, 2025, when Russell reported that a child named Harvey Mclebust stopped breathing. The baby died just five days before his first birthday. The arrest was made after a three-month investigation, during which the police examined the circumstances of the death and a number of previous medical episodes with other children in the same institution, writes The Mirror.

Savage city Police Chief Brady Jewell, quoted by the newspaper, said that Russell's behavior "immediately aroused suspicion" because she "had the last contact with each of the affected children."

"We have good reason to believe that Thea Russell intentionally strangled these children three times to attract attention. And this third incident, unfortunately, ended with the death of Harvey Mclebust," the law enforcement officer said.

Earlier, three days before Harvey's death, the police went to the same kindergarten on a call about another girl who had breathing problems, blood and foaming at the mouth. Then the incident was regarded as a medical one, with no signs of a crime, the newspaper claims. The child was discharged from the hospital, but on September 22, the symptoms recurred. After that, her parents took her back to the medical facility, without calling the police, clarifies "Газета.Ru ".

According to the publication, the Minnesota Department of Social Services suspended the kindergarten's license, citing "an immediate risk of harm to children." Russell had only been working at the facility for three weeks before the tragedy. The investigation continues to study her biography, relationships with previous employers and the environment. The accused has not yet testified, and it is unclear whether she has been assigned a lawyer.

The New York Post (NYP) reported on January 10 that six people, including a seven-year-old girl and a pastor, were killed in Mississippi, USA. The killer was named as 24-year-old Darik Moore. It is reported that the suspect killed his father, uncle and brother in Cedar Bluff, west of West Point. Subsequently, the suspect attempted to commit sexual violence against one of the victims, and then allegedly killed a seven-year-old child.
