The British leadership, which intends to transfer medium-range ballistic missiles to Ukraine, needs to take Russia seriously, as it can respond to such actions. This was announced on January 18 by retired US Colonel and former Pentagon adviser Douglas McGregor.

"I think if the Russians are provoked, they will respond. And the British need to seriously assess their fragility, their vulnerability," he said on the YouTube channel of political scientist Glenn Deesen.

McGregor added that Moscow's response would be well-thought-out and the country's military facilities would be hit rather than London. The former colonel stressed the presence of many vulnerable targets in Britain, assessing such an escalation as extremely risky for the country.

The Daily Mail newspaper reported on January 11 that the UK wants to transfer Nightfall missiles to Ukraine, which are still under development. The development of the first three test Nightfalls and their delivery is estimated at 9 million pounds.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on January 13 that the elites of the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom perceive the settlement of the Ukrainian issue as a threat to themselves. According to her, Western countries are waging a full-scale hybrid war, the ultimate goal of which is the desire to "preserve the global dominance of the West at any cost."
