On January 15, three-time Olympic champion in cross-country skiing Alexander Bolshunov won the 15 km freestyle race at the sixth stage of the Cup of Russia, which takes place in Kazan.

It is noted that the athlete overcame the distance in 32 minutes and 22.2 seconds, and this victory was his first this season. The second place was taken by Egor Mitroshin, who was 16.9 seconds behind, and Ivan Gorbunov finished third, who lost by 30.7 seconds.

Alexander Bolshunov is 28 years old, and in addition to three Olympic gold medals, he is also a four-time silver and two-time bronze medalist at the Olympic Games. In addition, he twice won the overall World Cup and the multi-day Tour de Ski race.

On the same day, Alina Pekletsova became the winner of the individual freestyle race at the sixth stage of the Russian Cup in Cross-country skiing. The athlete covered the distance in 24 minutes and 9.4 seconds.
