Singapore has become the leader among the countries whose passports are attractive because they are available for visa-free travel. This was announced on January 14 on the official Henley Passport Index website.
Singapore has been at the top of the list since 2023, and its passport provides visa-free access to 192 countries. Japan and South Korea occupy the second position with 188 destinations, while Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland occupy the third position, with 186 countries available to their citizens. At the bottom of the list are Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.
At the same time, Russia ranked 46th in the Henley Passport Index passport attractiveness rating.
The Henley Passport Index is based on the number of countries available for visa-free travel. It takes into account 199 passports and 227 tourist destinations, while the list is updated every month.
The head of the Ministry of Economic Development, Maxim Reshetnikov, speaking at the Russian-Indian Business Forum on December 4, 2025, stated the need to speed up work on launching visa-free group trips between Russia and India. According to him, to simplify travel, the Russian Federation has already extended the validity period of an electronic visa for Indians to 120 days and a stay of up to 30 days.
Maya Lomidze, Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), said on January 11 that the visa-free regime between the Russian Federation and the Republic of India will have a significant impact on all inbound tourism to Russia, which is currently a popular holiday destination for tourists from Arab and Asian countries.
