The tests of the staff of maternity hospital No. 1 in Novokuznetsk, where nine babies died, were performed and sent to the laboratory — according to preliminary results, no infections were found in them. This was announced on Tuesday, January 13, by the head of the Federation Council Committee, Elena Perminova.

"At the moment, we can say that all the necessary flushes have been done, which should be done with medical workers. They were promptly sent to the laboratory. According to preliminary information, no infection has been detected," she said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Perminova stressed that the investigation into the tragedy will continue until all the circumstances and causes of the incident are fully clarified.

Obstetric hospital No. 1 of the G.P. Kurbatov City Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Novokuznetsk stopped receiving patients on the same day due to an increase in the incidence of respiratory infection. Later, it became known about the deaths of nine infants in the hospital, upon which a criminal case was opened in accordance with Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code ("Causing death by negligence"), Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code ("Negligence").

According to the Izvestia source, all infants were diagnosed with either intrauterine or neonatal infection. It was these infections that caused the critical complications.
