SOE demanded to seize collections of wines and watches from the ex-mayor of Sochi Kopaigorodsky

As part of the General Prosecutor's lawsuit against the former mayor of Sochi, Alexei Kopaigorodsky, and his wife, a collection of luxury wines and watches will be turned into state revenue. This was announced on January 13 by a source of Izvestia.

In particular, the Kopaigorodsky wine collection includes rare and collectible bottles, including Romanee-Conti from 2006 and Petrus Pomerol, some of which cost up to 2 million rubles. The watch collection contains products from Breguet, Patek Philippe, Blancpain, Hublot and Cartier brands, some models of which are estimated at 10-14 million rubles.

According to the Federal Tax Service, Kopaygorodsky's official income in 2014-2023 amounted to about 16 million rubles, while he did not own real estate during this period. The prosecutor's office notes that the expenses of the ex-mayor of Sochi clearly do not correspond to his official income. Illegally acquired property, according to the supervision, was registered to a spouse, relatives and trusted persons.

Kopaygorodsky was detained on September 25 in the special operation area, where he had gone some time ago as a volunteer. At the same time, he was arrested until November 18. The ex-mayor is charged with embezzlement of 3.7 million rubles, he pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is also being investigated for involvement in other crimes. If confirmed, new charges will be brought against him.

On November 14, lawyers for Yanina, the wife of the former mayor of Sochi, told Izvestia that she had declared an indefinite hunger strike in a pre-trial detention center. It was clarified that the woman made this decision after the court denied the request for the opportunity to see the children without restrictive conditions. A little later, Yanina refused to go on hunger strike, due to the fact that they explained to her the procedures for providing visits in the pre-trial detention center.
