Russian ski jumpers have lost the opportunity to participate in the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. This was announced on January 13 by the head coach of the Russian national team Evgeny Plekhov.

"Yes, we have no chance left to get to the Olympics, because we will not be able to participate in the qualifying tournaments due to the fact that we were not given a visa," he told TASS.

According to him, the Russian athletes were unable to obtain the entry visas necessary to participate in the qualifying competitions in Europe on time. The information that appeared about the possible issuance of visas no earlier than January 22-23 turned out to be late, since before that date it was necessary to undergo a mandatory check of sports equipment, which could only be carried out at European venues.
