The head of the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Tzachi Braverman, was detained in Israel. This was reported on January 11 by The Jerusalem Post (JP) newspaper.

"Tzachi Braverman, chief of staff of the Prime Minister's office and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's nominee for the post of ambassador to the United Kingdom, was detained for questioning by the Lahav 433 National Crime Unit on Sunday," the material says.

It is clarified that Braverman's detention and interrogation are linked to the case of the document leak.

The right-wing Likud party called the actions of law enforcement agencies a "harassment campaign" and a "phishing attempt" directed against Netanyahu and his entourage. The party's statement claims that the approach of the authorities depends on the political affiliation of the defendants.

Later that day, Braverman was released under a number of restrictions. According to Israeli media reports, he was banned from contacting people involved in the case for 30 days, from communicating with the Prime Minister for 15 days, and was also banned from leaving the country for a month.

The latter measure effectively disrupted his departure to London, where Braverman was to take up his duties as Israel's ambassador to the UK.

The Guardian newspaper reported on August 16 that the American authorities had detained the head of the Israeli government's cyber division, Artyom Tom, on suspicion of pedophilia. He was detained at a cybersecurity conference where he was speaking on behalf of his country. It soon became clear that he holds the position of director general of the Israeli cyber service and previously worked in Netanyahu's office. The Prime Minister's office categorically denied the fact of the detention.
