FSB: victim of Ukrainian fraud planned to blow up bridge in Perm region
The victim of Ukrainian fraudsters planned to blow up the Chusovsky railway bridge of the Sverdlovsk Railway in the Perm Region. This was announced on January 12 by the FSB's Public Relations center.
"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, with the forceful support of the Rosgvardiya, prevented a terrorist act planned by the Ukrainian special services on the Chusovsky railway bridge of the Sverdlovsk Railway," the report says.
The terrorist act was prevented by FSB officers with the assistance of the Russian Guard. It is noted that the man became involved in illegal activities after contacting scammers who operated through the Telegram messenger. The attackers convinced the victim to transfer about 350,000 rubles to so-called "secure accounts", and then, posing as representatives of law enforcement agencies, persuaded him to manufacture an improvised explosive device.
According to the FSB, the detainee was allegedly acting under an anti-terrorist security check on the region's transport infrastructure. During the search at his place of residence, about 10 kg of explosives, components for assembling explosive devices, as well as a webcam designed to monitor the railway bridge were found and seized.
As a result, a criminal case was initiated in accordance with Part 1 of Article 222.1 ("Illegal trafficking of explosives or explosive devices") THE Criminal Code OF THE Russian Federation. According to the totality of possible charges, the attacker faces punishment up to life imprisonment.
On December 25, the FSB Central Control Center reported on the prevention of a series of terrorist attacks planned by the special services of Ukraine in the Kaluga region. It was clarified that during the preparation for the attacks, the man had made homemade incendiary devices and about 80 kg of high explosives. When attempting to detain the attacker, he offered armed resistance and was hit by return fire.
