US President Donald Trump will hold a meeting with the National Security Council on Tuesday to discuss possible further steps regarding Iran. This was reported on January 12 by CNN, citing sources.

It is noted that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kane will also take part. During the meeting, the range of potential measures that can be applied by Washington will be considered.

Among the possible options for action are the use of cyber means against Iranian military and civilian targets, increased sanctions pressure on Tehran, as well as the possibility of military strikes, the newspaper writes.

The day before, the American leader said that the Iranian authorities allegedly called on the United States to negotiate on the nuclear program, and a meeting is also possible between the parties. Trump also made a statement about his contacts with representatives of the Iranian opposition.

The Wall Street Journal learned on January 10 that the Trump administration was discussing scenarios for a possible strike on Iran, which would be launched if necessary. Then it was noted that it was not about the preparation for action itself.
