Servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation stopped an attempt by units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to install the Ukrainian flag on the city administration building in Kupyansk, Kharkiv region, to allegedly indicate their presence in the city. This was announced on January 11 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

"To mark their alleged presence in the city, the Ukrainian Armed Forces made an unsuccessful attempt to install the Ukrainian flag on the city administration building using an unmanned aerial vehicle," the ministry said in a statement.

It is also noted that both the flag and the device itself, on which it was placed, were destroyed.

On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry noted that two attacks by formations of the 92nd assault and 116th mechanized Ukrainian brigades, which were detected in the areas of the settlements of Blagodatovka and Kupyansk-Uzlovaya, Kharkiv region, were repelled in the Kupyansk direction. During the operations, as specified, 15 Ukrainian militants were killed.
