Zelensky requested increased air defense from the West

On January 9, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called on Western partners to strengthen the supply of air defense systems

"Air defense support for Ukraine is a constant priority," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Zelensky also insists that the supply and production of air defense should begin immediately.

On the eve of the American leader Donald Trump said that the United States could not promise Ukraine increased support in the future if the conflict settlement process dragged on. Also on this day, the politician noted that in the event of the expiration of the Treaty on the Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (START Treaty), it would be necessary to conclude a new, "better" agreement.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced on January 5 that Hungary does not intend to finance Ukraine in 2026 and opposes EU loans for these purposes. He stated that Budapest would not support initiatives related to the continuation of the conflict and was counting on its resolution.
