Cyclone Frances hit Moscow with a heavy snowstorm on January 8. In the capital, snow drifts and ice are accompanied by wind gusts up to 15-18 m/s.

The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Moscow, in turn, expects that the bad weather will last in the Moscow region until 21:00 Moscow time on Friday, January 9. The Metropolitan Department of Transport urged motorists to be especially careful when climbing and descending from bridges and overpasses, and also recommended postponing trips and using public transport.
